The cooperative way
A quietly excellent way to farm
Long before “climate-smart agriculture” had a name, the people of Keiyian were already practising it. What began in 1968 as a demonstration farm has grown into a cooperative that has outlasted droughts, market shocks and even fire — and kept growing.
With SNV and KALRO under the ICSIAPL programme, our improved forages — Brachiaria, Panicum Mombasa, Lucerne, Rhodes grass — feed our herds better while cutting methane intensity by up to a third per litre of milk. Better for the cow, the farmer, and the climate.
Word from the community
People who farm with us

“My attachment at Keiyian gave me real, hands-on experience no classroom could.”
“Their Sahiwal bulls transformed our herd. Hardy, well-bred, exactly as described.”
