What We Do
Six pillars, one cooperative

Dairy Farming
Two pedigree herds, side by side
Keiyian milks two pedigree herds: the hardy Sahiwal, milked in the traditional suckling system, and the high-yielding Holstein Friesian. Together they deliver approximately 900 litres of fresh milk every day — collected, cooled and processed on-farm. Our cattle graze rotationally managed pastures and improved forages, because good milk begins with good grass.
- The Sahiwal herd — hardy, dual-purpose, our signature
- The Holstein Friesian herd — high-yield pedigree dairy
- Rotational grazing on improved pastures
- Milk collection for members

Sahiwal Stud & Livestock Sales
Pedigree genetics with a five-decade history
Few farms in Kenya can offer what Keiyian offers: pedigree Sahiwal genetics refined over five decades. Our breeding bulls and select female stock are raised on natural pasture, individually identified, and sold through announced public sales.
- Farm-raised pedigree animals
- Branding and ear-tag identification
- Health records: vaccination, deworming, dipping
- Viewing by appointment before every sale

Crops & Hay
700 acres of flagship crops and forage
Approximately 700 acres carry the flagship crops — sugarcane, tea and maize — alongside a growing acreage of improved forages and Rhodes grass for hay. Transmara’s semi-humid climate, with over 1,400 mm of annual rainfall on deep, well-drained soils, makes this some of the most productive farmland in Narok County.
- Rhodes grass hay — commercial production scaling
- Maize silage made to exacting standards
- Sugarcane, tea and maize on fertile plateau soils

Milk Processing & Products
From parlour to product, on one farm
Our on-farm processing facility turns the day’s milk into fresh yoghurt and maziwa mala, sold locally. Processing on the farm means shorter chains, fresher products, and better prices for members. [VERIFY current product range and indicative prices.]
- Fresh milk (bulk)
- Yoghurt
- Maziwa mala

Farmer Training & Outreach
Teaching is in our founding DNA
Keiyian runs outreach programmes for smallholder farmers around Kilgoris and hosts field days, demonstrations on the ICSIAPL improved-forage plots, and practical training in pasture management, silage making and dairy husbandry.
- Field days on the 21-acre demo plots
- Pasture and silage-making training
- Group visits for schools and cooperatives

Student Attachments
Where the classroom meets the crush
More than 40 students from tertiary institutions have completed industrial attachments at Keiyian, gaining hands-on experience across dairy, beef, crops and cooperative management.
- Structured attachment across all farm sections
- Mentorship from experienced farm staff
- Open to universities and colleges [VERIFY institutions]
